Collection: Christy Shaw

Mixed Media & Torn Paper Collage Artist, Christy Shaw, who uses the pen name Retro Dolly, believes she was born in the wrong decade due to her fanatical attraction to all things retro with a twist of quirky. Retro Dolly is not afraid to be unique in her approach to life or in the art she creates. Her artistic resume includes publication in popular magazines, design team member for art supply companies, and her current art adventure is renovating a 1962 Traveleze travel trailer into a mobile art studio.

Retro Dolly uses papers of all kinds to create a one-of-a-kind collage using hand selected papers in just the right color and exact amount of pattern, to piece together for a meaningful work of art. Through careful inspection of her work, you will spot meaningful words, phrases, and tiny images thoughtfully placed throughout each collage. Retro Dolly pours a great deal of love into each hand-torn masterpiece and can be authenticated by locating a tiny collaged heart randomly placed in the masterpiece.

Aside from torn paper collage, Retro Dolly tinkers with junk journaling, paper bead making, artist trading cards, inchies, and found object assemblage art. She is a collector of vintage treasures and kitschy trinkets and is diligent to use her collections to make a house her home.
