We Give Back
Since 2019, The Maker Beehive Handmade Collective has proudly supported "Paul's Party," a non-profit organization that holds a special place in our hearts. A journey began with a deep friendship that formed back in 2001 when a mom named Kathie and I were navigating the challenges of raising sons born with Spina Bifida. In those early days, before social media, we found solace and connection through online message boards, forming a small group of "spina bifida moms" who remain close to this day.
Our sons, Nick and Paul, shared a passion for sports and a desire to compete like their able-bodied peers. For Nick, wheelchair soccer and adapted baseball became his calling, while Paul excelled in sled hockey and track. These activities require specialized and often expensive equipment, prohibiting way too many kids from getting to experience the joy of athletic play.
In 2017, Paul's life was tragically cut short. To honor his memory, Kathie and her husband Jim established "Paul's Party" dedicated to raising funds for recreational opportunities and equipment, ensuring that other young athletes have the opportunity to pursue their passions.
The Maker Bees have proudly contributed over $20,000 to Paul's Party helping to provide items such as adapted hockey sleds, shot-put chairs, hand bikes, and sports chairs. Kathie runs a shop within The Maker Beehive Handmade Collective, where 100% of the proceeds go directly to Paul's Party. Moreover, every maker in our collective contributes a percentage of their sales to this worthy cause.
When you shop with us, you're not just purchasing beautiful handmade artwork; you're also supporting a mission that empowers young athletes with disabilities. Your purchase makes a difference, and we are deeply grateful for your support.
Warmly,
Jennifer
